Peter Zalmayev, EDI, joins the panel “Kazakhstan and Corruption: A Balance Sheet” at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs

Corruption remains largely untackled in Kazakhstan. Although the government has announced several legislative measures to improve transparency, the recent EXPO 2017 embezzlement scandal  hinted at the extent to which corruption remains endemic. This event will focus on key areas of concern, as well as the progress made to date. The speakers will offer brief initial remarks, followed by an hour for questions and discussion.
